Our Community Clubhouse

Outrigger Caloundra’s clubhouse has been a community facility since the 1960s.  Over the years the club has been home to the Caloundra All Boats Sailing Club, the Malibu Club and Caloundra State High School for marine studies.

Outrigger Caloundra have called the clubhouse at Leach Park, Golden Beach home since 2000.  We are a not-for-profit club managed by volunteers.  Our members maintain the surrounding grounds where our canoes are stored and we have made custom-built racks inside the club for both club owned and privately owned small water crafts for members.

We feel very privileged to be based on Pumicestone Passage with access to a boat ramp and car parking.  The ocean is at our doorstep and the passage is our playground when we can’t cross the bar.

At Ourigger Caloundra we understand that with privilege comes responsibility.  We understand that as individuals we do not “own” the facility; rather we are managing it and maintaining it the best we can for the collective use of our members and the community.  For example, Outrigger Caloundra opened its doors free of charge for a local band called the “Flying Pigs” to perform in December 2019.  All money raised went to the Sunshine Coast Integrated Family and Youth Service.  We have also offered to run a free 6 week program for kids in care within the Moreton region and we now offer a weekly session for kids aged from 8 to 12 every Saturday morning.

Outrigger Caloundra also acknowledges that the traditional custodians of the area have cared for the land and waters we use today for thousands of years.  It is our hope that we can build relationships with the traditional custodians and discuss ways we can learn more about Gubbi Gubbi culture and heritage.
